Work Updates

Though I'm pretty sure I've lost most of my regular readers since my July trip to Europe turned into about 2 months of fairly limited blogging. I should update that I'm in the middle of turning the fairy tales into a manuscript to shop around. Which at this time involves lots of editing that I don't really want to do (i've always been bad at editing creatively.

I've also been working on a way to unify my online life, because I have far too many disconnected hobbies that I want to eventually make money off of. Young men need focus.

I'll be getting some more updates soon... Hopefully an imaginary bird or two.

schedule update

Just got back from Europe. Going to spend a week getting my working life together, then I'll start back on a regularish schedule next week. Though I will be posting something on birds on wednesday.

New Posting Schedule

Since over the past 2-3 weeks I've picked up something resembling a readership, I've decided to forgo my plans for a third blog, which never really fit into my schedule to begin with, and instead move the proposed content of that blog over to this blog. What that practically means is I'm going to up my two regular features to four, and I'll be looking for comments as to what's the most 

My new schedule should look something like this:

Saturday: Announce any themes for the following week

Sunday: Love Letter/Fairy Tale

Monday: Exploration of an artistic concept/movement

Wednesday: Description of an Imaginary Bird

Thursday: Movie/book/artwork review

And more flexibly, I'll post character sketches, scene sketches, and anything I damn well feel like on the other three days.

While I'm going to try to be fairly strict with this schedule, I'm also rather lazy, and so I might miss a week here and there on various parts.

From the feedback I've gotten so far it seems that the Love Letters are everyone's favorite part, but I'll be looking for feedback as to what generally doesn't work.

I'll also be trying to put together "theme weeks" once I get all my letters transcribed. I'll try to come up with a "editorial schedule" so to speak over the next few weeks.

Finding an agent

So this blog has sat inactive for a while as I tried to make the jump from thought to practice. The original idea was to write something of a personal mythology, to match my interest in real mythology. An autobiography set in a magical-real universe that I seem to occasionally inhabit...

But I realized quite quickly that such a plan would require far too much non-paying work to really pull off successfully. Instead I will be doing something much more practical, and much more interesting for the average reader. I will be looking for an agent.

The content will not be changed much. I will be writing character sketches, story concepts, scene descriptions, and "thoughts on writing" along with the already planned personal mythology. The goal is to grab the attention of a literary and/or film agent that will make me money, as its fairly hard to do the necessary schmoozing while you're off running a magazine in China.

I won't be changing the title or the banner though. As I really quite like the banner.
